WHAT IS THE NEED?
Spend a summer or year with Love Thy Neighborhood, and spend 20-30 hours per week doing a church ministry internship at Sojourn Carlisle, a church devoted to serving its neighborhood in South Louisville.
Launched in 2019, Sojourn Church Carlisle is a new church, but one that already has deep roots. They are rooted in their community, committed to doing good works in the South End of Louisville and beyond. They are also rooted in history, building on the legacy of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church. Above all, they are rooted in the gospel.
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Summer interns at Sojourn Carlisle will serve the church and surrounding community by:
- Helping with the planning and execution of summer VBS
- Helping with planning and execution of summer basketball camps
- Seeking to establish outreach opportunities for children in the neighborhood through Carlisle’s gym facility
- Aiding in improving Carlisle’s process for food pantry and benevolence requests
- Potential opportunity to help with communications and social media
Year-long interns at Sojourn Carlisle will have even more ways to serve:
- Seeking to establish outreach opportunities for children in the neighborhood through Carlisle’s gym
- Working with existing gym partners to continue to impact our neighborhood
- Planning and participating in community outreach
- Opportunity to pick an area of focus! (Women’s Ministry, Pastoral Leadership, or Communications)
THIS MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT IF:
- You are interested in church ministry, specifically at a church with a huge focus on reaching the neighborhood immediately around it
- For Year-Long Pastoral Ministry Focus – you are gifted at administration and would be excited to support the work of Carlisle’s pastoral team administratively
- For Communications Focus – you are studying social media marketing or communications and would like to use your skills to help a church plant, while also being heavily involved in outreach and other service opportunities
