ABOUT RE:CENTER MINISTRIES
Founded in 1881, Re:Center Ministries reconciles homeless and hurting people to God, to family, and to the community by the power of Christ in partnership with the local church. The work of Re:Center is focused on providing emergency relief and recovery to people experiencing homelessness and addiction.
Emergency relief is provided through our Drop-In Program for women and children and through our overnight shelter for men. Our work towards recovery is provided by the LifeChange Program for men. This program focuses on addressing the underlying roots of homelessness and addiction from a biblical perspective.
YOUR INTERNSHIP ROLE
Interns will assist with Re:Center’s LifeChange Program. This is a two-phase, 15-month residential program serving up to 32 men at a time. All residents’ tangible needs, including a safe home and nutritious meals, are provided so that they may fully engage in biblical counseling, life skills classes, and work therapy through Re:Center’s thrift store, Thrift ‘n’ Thrive, and Re:Center’s Farm & Garden.
DURING THIS INTERNSHIP, YOU WILL:
- Building relationships with the men in the program and directing them to the supportive services such as counseling, life skill building and recovery-related support when necessary
- Assisting in the daily functions of the LifeChange program. i.e taking attendance in classes, running errands, transporting residents to and from work therapy, program admin etc.
- Working alongside residents at the thrift store and garden
- Opportunities to lead some classes or Bible studies with staff oversight.
- Plan special events for the men in the program
- Other duties as assigned to assist the general work of the ministry
• Year Long Interns will have the opportunity to be given more responsibility within the ministry. Over the course of a year, they will develop a thorough understanding of non-profit and homeless ministry by building strong relationships with Re:Center’s staff, clients, and volunteers.
THIS MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU IF:
- You have a high level of relational skills, listening skills, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills
- You are able to communicate with all different kinds of people
- You have good organizational and administrative skills and are able to identify, assess and resolve crises, when necessary
- This position is perfect for someone who is pursuing a career in direct or pastoral ministry, social work, counseling, case management, or addiction recovery
