My Dear Friends & Family –
I am excited to tell you about my plans for this summer! I will be serving as an urban missionary with Love Thy Neighborhood, a ministry that recruits young adults like me to work and live together to serve in the inner-city. Together with a local church, we’re committed to impacting our neighbor’s lives with the gospel of Jesus Christ in Louisville, KY.
LTN partners each Team Member with an existing partner ministry to serve. I will be doing ministry with women in the sex industry. I will be offering staffing reinforcements to a ministry that works to build relationships with women in the sex industry – to help them leave the industry, receive ongoing care and find new life in Christ. Louisville has over 5,000 women working in strip clubs. I am sure it breaks your heart like it does mine to know that most of these ladies have been sexually abused as children and raped multiple times as adults. Most believe they are not worthy of love and have lost all hope.
I don’t believe we can wait for hurting, lost people to come to us. We must go to them. The need for restoration is very evident in the lives around me – especially in my own life. I want to show people Jesus’ love and share with them that they are not alone in their pain.
I also want to deepen my own relationship with God and become a more effective Christian servant. This internship will strengthen me in my walk of faith through Christian community, the curriculum of books, being part of a vibrant local church and having daily times of study and worship.
As a Love Thy Neighborhood Team Member, my goal is to raise $2,700 for the summer to cover the cost of living, eating, transportation, training and newsletter supplies, etc. Anything you can commit will bring me closer to that goal and make my mission possible. Please make sure that you do not write my name anywhere on the check as this may negate the tax deductibility of your donation.
I can’t do this without you. I know the Lord has called me to LTN and I need your help. If you cannot help financially, but will pray for me through the year or if you want to receive my monthly newsletters let me know that as well. You can be sure I will need and appreciate that kind of support. That is why I will be sending a monthly letter and keeping a weekly blog for my friends – to fill them in on what happens and how they can help.
