WHAT IS THE NEED?
During your time with Love Thy Neighborhood, spend 20-30 hours per week doing an internship and serving the homeless alongside our partners at Nomad Church Collective.
Nomad Church Collective seeks to make disciples of Jesus by taking the gospel to the margins of society. Spend a summer or a year with Nomad Church for the opportunity to build deep relationships with neighbors often overlooked by the rest of society.
During an internship with Nomad Church, you will spend most of your day serving the homeless at Nomad Church’s community center, The Outpost. People are able to come in off the streets to get showers, hot coffee, and a handful of other resources. The main goal of providing this space is for staff and volunteers to be able to build relationships with folks coming in. As people are willing, interns may even be able to engage in discipleship relationships with those who come in. In addition to spending time at The Outpost, interns will also participate in neighborhood outreach including outreach at homeless camps in the area.
An ideal intern for Nomad Church is someone who is willing to sit down and deeply love someone who often feels overlooked and not listened to. Interns can expect to be stretched and challenged spiritually, emotionally, and relationally as they engage with a wide range of people with a wide range of backgrounds and needs. There may also be opportunities for interns (especially year-long interns) to use their skills to offer classes or workshops to people being served in areas where they have special skills (think art therapy, music, etc).
